Is the booking fee on top of Stripe fees?

Yes, they are separate. Stripe fees are standard Australian card processing rates. The Petboost booking fee covers booking management, automated invoicing, SMS reminders, payment collection, and reporting. Both fees can be built into service pricing with Petboost's Build Fees Into Pricing wizard, so the business absorbs no additional cost.

How does the subscription waiver work?

The subscription fee is evaluated monthly. If card payments processed through Petboost exceed the threshold in a calendar month, the following month’s subscription fee is $0, applied as a credit on that renewal invoice. There is no averaging, no lock-in, and no penalties for slow months. If volume dips below the threshold one month, the standard subscription applies the following month. Only card payments taken through Petboost count: card on file, payment links and the Stripe terminal. Cash, bank transfer and payments on the business’s own EFTPOS terminal do not.

Can my client use their own EFTPOS terminal instead?

Yes. Record it on the appointment as Other EFTPOS; Petboost charges no fee on it, and the same goes for cash and bank transfer. Those payments are recorded against the appointment, but they do not reach Xero through Stripe Bank Feeds, so the bookkeeper reconciles them by hand.

Is Petboost PCI compliant?

Petboost never stores card data. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Card details are tokenised and stored exclusively within Stripe infrastructure. Your client never handles raw card numbers.

What accounting software does it work with?

Xero via Stripe Bank Feeds is the recommended route. Stripe card payments flow into Xero through Stripe's bank feed for the bookkeeper to reconcile; cash, bank transfer and Other EFTPOS payments are entered by hand. Petboost is also compatible with QuickBooks and MYOB through CSV exports. Most Australian accountants already use Xero, which makes the setup straightforward.

What Your Client Is Actually Paying For

Three cost components, each on its own line.

Stripe Processing (1.7% + $0.30)

Standard Australian Stripe rate. This is what any business pays to accept card payments, whether through Petboost or independently. The same rate as Stripe direct.

Petboost Booking Fee (1.2-1.4%)

On card payments only. Covers auto-invoicing, payment collection, booking management, SMS reminders, and reporting. A small fixed SMS fee is added when a payment link Petboost texts is paid; Email and Copy Link carry none. Can be built into service pricing with the Build Fees Into Pricing wizard.

Monthly Subscription ($65-$240)

Waived entirely when card payment volume exceeds the threshold ($7,500-$20,000/month). Many businesses pay $0/month in subscription fees.
